INTEGRATIVE NARRATIVE
When I was 14 years old, I started to see how important Spanish was in my education. I met a teacher, her name was Imelda who inculcated me to read different books. When I was 16-17 years old I decided to be a computer science, but I could not finished the career because I decided to leave the school and mexico and move to the United States with my family and continue my studies in a new country. In 2011, I came to the United States where I saw a very different world than I left. The path for my education was very difficult; I need to learn a new culture, language, and life style. when I was in Hartnell College; I took a Spanish class. The I started to get more into the literature and I started to see how important literature is for us.
When I made the decision to do my major in Spanish Language and Culture I was thinking that I could make a big change with a degree in Spanish because for the future I would like to teach Spanish, so this would help me a lot to be a good teacher. During these two years, I have learned a lot about grammar, linguistic, and literature, in addition, I have learned about different authors (writers), and different cultural and historical perspectives. In addition, in this major I have learned to work in teams and share new ideas as well as to be a more professional and friendly with the people around me. In this time that have been in CSUMB, I had like my literature classes because most of the readings have a deeper meaning. To conclude, I am thankful with the World Language and Culture’s Department staff, teachers and students because everyone helped me succeed and reach my main goal.
