SPAN 313: Intro to Spanish linguistics
Intro to Spanish Linguistics: Presents the principal branches of linguistic study, as it pertains to Spanish: the sound system (phonetics and phonology), the structure of words (morphology), and the structure of sentences (syntax). Additionally, attention is paid to bilingualism, especially Spanish in the US, and how Spanish is spoken/written differently by various social groups (sociolinguistics) and in various Spanish-speaking countries (dialectology).
The course SPAN 313 introduction to Spanish linguistic, I took this class in Fall 2018 with Dr. Oliva. This course helped me to satisfy MLO 2. I learned about linguistic; it is the study of language like syntax, semantic, phonetic, and morphology. In this class I have learned about phonetic and how it is used between English and Spanish. In addition, this course was related with SPAN 345 bilingual class because this course was about Spanish and English language structure. One important thing that I learned in this class was code switching. This class would help me understand different accent language have from different countries. I will like to learn more about the study of history and the change language have had over time. In conclusion, this class was so interesting because before I took this class I did not how and why linguistic was a branch of language.to conclude, I learned about sentence structure, and I saw how this is difficult for bilingual people.
